I recently wrote about the TSA policy on travelling with a safety razor in carry-on luggage on passenger aircraft in the US. I think it’s safe to say that the wisdom of travelling with a classic safety razor is in flux so it may be best not to tempt fate. To that end, while it might be easier to travel with a cartridge razor, Supply has come up with their own solution, the Supply Disposable SE razor.
My Experience With The Supply Disposable SE Razor

[Note: I purchased a pack of Supply Disposable SE razors. I did reach out to Supply with some questions but otherwise the views expressed here are my own and have not been reviewed or approved by Supply.]
Presentation
The Supply Disposable SE comes as a five razor pack in a heavyweight paper ‘bag.’ The razors have a protective cap covering the blade and head to avoid accidents when digging around a travel Dopp kit!
As you might expect, this is a very light razor, weighing in at a mere 10 grams (add 2 more for the protective head cap when the razor is not in use). Otherwise the outer design and dimensions mimic the standard Supply Single Edge SE:
I wondered if the razor head specs of the Disposable SE was the same as the standard SE. I reached out to Supply, who verified that yes, blade gap, blade exposure, razor head angle, etc. are exactly the same. The Disposable SE also features the “NickStop” skin guard technology of the standard razor.
Performance
In my hand the Supply Disposable DE is very light (duh…) but surprisingly well-balanced and sturdy-feeling. If you are a user of other Supply razors the Disposable will feel quite familiar!
The shave performance of the Disposable SE is very close to that of the alloy version for me: I just have to use a bit more pressure on the razor. I’m guessing that Supply is using one of their Injector blades (probably the “Black Label” blades for economic reasons) that has been removed from the blade magazine and permanently mounted into the Disposable razor. In any case I can get “Darn Fine Shave” level performance in a sub-optimal travel setting and achieve a “Baby’s Butt Smooth” result at home with a full shave kit.
Supply says the Disposable is good for 8-10 shaves and that tracks with my experience.
Background
From The Supply Disposable SE Webpage:
Just like our bestselling Single Edge SE, these premium disposable razors are engineered to provide a safe, smooth, and irritation-free single-blade shave. With fixed stainless-steel blades, they’re convenient and travel ready, so you can take them with you wherever you go.
- NickStop Technology reduces nicks and cuts by 75%
- Consciously crafted and with 65% ocean-bound plastic and 35% wheat straw
- Good for up to 10 shaves per razor
- Travel-friendly design
How do the Disposable SE razors differ from the Single Edge SE razor?
The primary difference between these two razors is weight. The Single Edge SE has a hefty solid metal construction that allows you to shave without applying extra pressure to your skin. The Disposable SE Razors are constructed from wheat straw and recycled ocean-bound plastic, making them much lighter, so you’ll want to apply gentle pressure to ensure proper contact with your facial hair.
How long does each razor last?
Each razor lasts up to 8-10 shaves depending on the thickness of your facial hair.
These disposable razors are the perfect solution. With fixed stainless-steel blades, these razors are TSA-compliant, which means you can stow them in your carry-on bag without issue.
Each razor comes equipped with a protective travel cap to keep your blade safe and secure en route. Plus, their super durable construction means you can toss them in your bag with full confidence that they’ll endure the journey just fine.
Summing Up
The Supply Disposable SE razor is a travel-friendly, recycle-friendly alternative to cheap plastic disposable travel razors.
I bought two packages recently. I’ve shaved seven times with one so far. I have gotten 12 shaves out of my regular SE using the blades in the black injector but as a travel razor, I don’t expect the disposable version to last as long.
I worry a bit about the availability of the razors. They are only available through Supply’s website. The packages are $15 each but you have to spend $35 to get free shipping. Also, it appears they don’t have many available right now. I put two into my cart but couldn’t check out.
