Modern synthetic shave brushes keep getting better and better (with many at great prices, no less). The Parker Blue Storm synthetic shave brush recently made its debut, offering a blend of quality and performance. With its large 24 mm brush knot and ergonomic iridescent blue resin handle, this brush can not only enhance your grooming experience but also stands out on your vanity. Designed to maximize lathering with high bristle density, it promises a luxurious shave every time.
My Experience With The Parker BLSY2 (“Blue Storm”) Deluxe Synthetic Shave Brush

Design and Build Quality
Before selecting a shaving brush, consider the design and build quality. The Parker Blue Storm shave brush excels in both areas, particularly at its price point, featuring a handsome iridescent blue resin handle is visually striking and an excellent build quality. With a 24 mm brush knot, a loft height of 56 mm, and a weight of about 88 grams on my digital kitchen scale, I find this brush well-balanced.
Little details can matter when it comes to comfort during shaving. The ergonomic design of the Blue Storm brush ensures that you can maintain a secure hold even when wet. Although the handle’s length is just a few millimeters longer than my preference (YMMV) I find the handle’s shape offers excellent control, allowing me to apply the right pressure with ease.
Fibers
An important feature of the Blue Storm shaving brush is its commitment to sustainability through the use of premium synthetic bristles. These bristles mimic the performance of mid-to-high-end traditional badger hair. This is obviously a recent generation fiber: I’m told that it is a proprietary blend of synthetic materials. It is definitely not a re-branded Yaqi product.
Performance
Years ago I was an admitted badger brush snob but the most recent generations of synthetic materials have replaced my badger brushes. I find these synthetic brushes perform as well or better than badger, with the only minor nitpick being that I have to be a bit more mindful on how hard I press down on the brush so water in the “breach” doesn’t drain prematurely.
The Parker Blue Storm works equally well for me with both face lathering and bowl lathering. Lather-making is quick, easy, and results in a high quality luxurious lather.
