Who Makes This Razor?!?

Listen to this article

I need to tap the vast traditional shaving community to help me identify this razor.  I thought I knew every safety razor style currently produced, but this one has me stumped.  I just returned from a visit to my in-laws, and they gave me this razor as a gift.  The in-laws don’t have internet access and apparently this razor was purchased from a catalog.  Its new, not vintage, and came with a pack of Gillette 7 O’ Clock blades.  The handle is 4 inches long, the weight is 2 ounces, and it has a twist-to-open dial at the top of the handle.  I did a little research and found the online version of the catalog: HERE is the razor they gave me.  The fit and finish is just OK, but for $15 dollars its certainly adequate.  I have only had an opportunity to use it once and while the shave was a bit uneven it actually wasn’t too bad.

At first I thought this might have been a Parker razor but after reviewing their product line I don’t think so.  The catalog company says its made by Gillette but I find that hard to believe, unless its produced under license by another company.  There aren’t any brand or model marking on the razor to indicate where it came from.  So… can anyone help me identify this razor?

  1. Hi Mark:

It is made in Pakistan. No doubt about it. The head on this razor is common on all the TTO razors coming out of Pakista

As an Aside, this razor really is illegal in the U.S. U.S. customs rules dictate that all safety razors being imported/sold in the U.S must have the country of origin stamped on the razor. It is clear this razor is not compliant.

  2. I asked almost the exact same question on Blade & Badger. At first I thought, "Wow! Thank you, Mantic59! What a great guy for going to all the trouble of making a video just… to answer… my question? Hey, wait a minute…" *laugh*
