  1. Shaving with safety razor may truly take some of our time in the morning but it just feels great. Thanks for posting.

  2. My time is 20 min. That’s 1 minute, work soap. 2 minute, face lather. 2 minute “soak.” A 3 pass shave, some touch up along jawline. Rinse & clean up area.

  3. Since I’ve retired I chose to take my time – I’m shaving now because I want to, not because I have to. I recently gave some DE shaving gear to my nephew on his 35th birthday, and the one piece of advice that I offered above all else is “Don’t be in a rush. This is not the kind of shaving you do when you are in a hurry.”
My father used to tell me “If you can’t fine the time to do it right the first time, how are you going to find the time to do it over?” Words of wisdom.

  4. It takes me about 12 minutes for a DE shave and about 20 for a straight razor shave. I found that as I gained proficiency with the straight, my DE times improved also. Sometimes, I like to relax and enjoy the process and not be concerned with speed.

  5. I can get a good traditional wet shave done in about 15 or 20 minutes, but I usually shave at night so that I can really take my time and enjoy a nice comfortable, close shave. I will spend about 45 minutes shaving at night. The more time spend the better the shave.

  6. Not only was my AM speed shave less comfortable than normal. It led to my first 5 o’clock shadow in a year. As a rule, things can be done correctly (like a proper shave), quickly, &/ or cheaply. A combination of any two of them will rule out the third.

  7. Intrigued by this article. I used my (return from) travel protocol. Brushless, with Cremo, and only a hot towel pre shave instead of my shower shave ritual. I was able to get a clean close shave in 4.5 minutes at a bathroom sink. It wasn’t enjoyable. It’s your face, it is not a race.

  8. My shaves usually run around 10 minutes which fits in with the list above though the individual times aren’t quite the same (e.g., my prep is generally my shower).

  9. I’m interested in what the average shave time of the different types of shaves are i.e. before work, weekend, leisurely. Those numbers are definitely a bit off for me personally. My passes take a bit longer but I also end up with each shave somewhere between 20-30 minutes from shower to clean up.
