QEDman – Bathtub Gin shave stick

Listen to this article

Here comes the joker
With his silly grin
He carries a martini
Made of bathtub gin
Here comes the joker
We all must laugh
Cause we’re all in this together
And we love to take a bath.
– Phish, Bathtub Gin

QEDman’s Bathtub Gin is a sweet little concoction of juniper berries with a citrus twist of lemon and lime. I think it’s quite a tasty scent, although to be frank I’m not sure I really know exactly what juniper berries are supposed to smell like. It’s nice and fruity, with what is almost a pine-like undertone to it. All in all, an intoxicating aroma, pun intended.
The strength was so-so. It started off at a decent enough level, but faded a fair bit, as is often the case.
The lather’s rather good; a nice balance of lubrication and cushioning was found fairly easily, requiring a decent amount of water but not enough to thin it out much. There weren’t any stability issues, and it gave some good moisturization.

  • 9/10 Scent Pleasantness
  • 7/10 Scent Strength
  • 8/10 Lather Quality

The 2oz shaving sticks cost $12.50. While they do ship to Canada and some other places outside the US, the shopping cart feature only works within the US, so you’ll need to e-mail for a quote.
All in all, I think it’s a rather good soap, I’ll round up to an 8/10.
Ingredients: Saponified 100% food grade coconut, palm, castor, and safflower oils, with kosher vegetable glycerin, soybean protein, aloe vera extract, and essential oils.
