Mike’s Natural Soaps

Single Edge Razors Part Two

Menlo Double Edge Razor

How to Properly Sanitize and Clean Your Razor

Mike’s Natural Soap

As one of the original artisans, Mike has been making soap since 2010.  My first artisan soap, it’s still used in my den frequently.

I’ll tell you about it!

Single Edge Razors Part Two

As promised, I will be dedicating a decent portion to single edge razors. For part two let’s talk about different types and how to get started!

Valet Autostrop is a razor that uses disposable blades that can be stropped in the actual razor themselves. You use a hanging strop that is about one inch in diameter.

Gillette purchased the company as they considered them a major competitor.

There were 10 models of the Autostrop razor, all which take a certain blade, which is equivalent to the Feather FHS -10.

Next up is the Modern Style “Artist Club” Style SE razor.  This design came to fruition in the 2010’s with the introduction of the Cobra Classic.  Soon after the Mongoose company debuted with a three piece design that has since been replicated several dozen times over.

These unique razors use Feather Professional Blades (which were originally designed shavettes/hair shapers) and are readily available.

Tune in for part 3 where we talk about injector style razors, and the Oneblade.

Menlo Shaving Goods

The Nealon is the first razor from Menlo Shaving.  An aggressive razor made of stainless steel. A wet shaving company formed from the pandemic, Jermey is a one mad shop.

Listen for more details.

Properly Cleaning/Sanitizing

  1. Barbercide does wonders.
  2. Boil metal razors, parts
  3. Clean shaving knots
  4. Rubbing alcohol works great.

I’ll tell you how to do it!

  1. Good material probably, but I don’t have time to listen to 25 minutes (much of it irrelevant rambling). I bailed out after 5 minutes.

We could read the material (if it were available) in a small fraction of 25 minutes.

    I favor a written format.

  2. Mikes Natural soaps are outstanding.
And I have been using them for years.
Thanks Joe and Mark for your grate work to us shavers.
