The sample I have of Mama Bear’s Spicy Lime is unfortunately quite weakly scented. Sniffing the soap directly reveals what would probably be a fairly pleasant scent, heavier on the lime than it is on the spice, if it was stronger.
Since the soap itself is a fair bit too weak, suffice it to say that the lather falls almost completely flat.
- 8/10 Scent Pleasantness
- 4/10 Scent Strength
- 7/10 Lather Quality (note: I recently re-vamped my lather quality scale, since I was giving out too many 9’s and there was too much variation within that score. As a result, everything that was below a 9, like this one, has been bumped one down.)
The Spiced Lime is available in the 1.5 oz mug soap size for $4.29, the 5 oz puck size starting at $9.99 (added charges for a tub or wooden bowl), or $1 for the sample I used.
Overall, I’d say this one is probably a 5/10. Certainly not terrible, but the scent doesn’t really do anything to add to the quality of the shave.
Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Castor Oil, Safflower , Glycerine (kosher, of vegetable origin), Purified Water, Sodium Hydroxide (saponifying agent), Sorbitol (moisturizer), Sorbitan oleate (emulsifier), Soybean protein (conditioner), Wheat protein and fragrance.
Mama Bears also puts out a version of Spicy Lime cologne. I have used it for a couple of years especially in the summer. The spice scent lasts all day.
Looks like a bottle of good ‘ol Old Spice too !
Plastic bottle or glass ?
The newer incarnation has a different formula and smells nothing like the old stuff – doesn’t last as long either.
It’s the new stuff. Honestly, I’m not all that much of a fan of it. It rarely actually gets unstoppered.
What’s the product in the background? Booster? Iced Lime?
Yup, exactly. A rather decent lime after-shave at a great price. Although it does sometimes seem to have availability issues:
