I’m told that Merkur and Vulfix will be raising their prices soon (if they haven’t already). Given the economy, perhaps the law of supply and demand is at work?

Classically, luxury products aren’t all that price sensitive. In fact, “moving up scale” can be a positive for such a product. The issue is that Merkur is merely on the high priced side of the market, not one of the over the top luxury brands. If their manufacturing is geared to small production and they are already meeting demand, there isn’t much of a downside to this pricing move. If on the other hand they are already making more product than the market can absorb and they aren’t interested in downsizing, this could be a very serious negative move.
We don’t have enough information. We don’t know what their manufacturing capacity is. We don’t know the impact of changing that capacity and we don’t know what their plans are. They could be branching out into other products and need the manufacturing capacity for them. Unless you have a crystal ball, this is all conjecture.
I still don’t understand the title. Are they breaking the law? Or is this some odd US pop culture reference?
It is a bad pun on the term “the law of supply and demand.”
Their goods are expensive enough as it is. They’re bound to lose sales by being greedy !
You’ve got to be kidding here! Raise their prices even more? That’s straight up price gouging.
What’s the point of wet shaving if everything is getting more expensive by the day?
