Parker Launches Their Own DE Razor Blades

Listen to this article

Parker razors are launching their own line of double edge (DE) razor blades [updated 15 May 2018].

They are being produced in Turkey, on German-made equipment, with Swedish steel so I guess you could call it a “’round the world” blade.  🙂

Parker DE Blade On Amazon

Am I getting a box of these?  At that price you bet I’m getting a box.  🙂

[Update: I have received the blades and I like them quite a bit!  I find them quite smooth and reasonably “forgiving” in a range of razors I have tried them in so far, including the Parker Variant, Merkur HD, Rockwell 6S (plate 2 seems to work best for me), and Dorco PL-602.  The longevity seems about average for me.]

Speaking of Amazon

By the way, I now have a “recommended products” page on Amazon.  These are all products I have personally tried and really like, plus announcements of new products you may be interested in (like the Parker DE blade), that are on Amazon (yes, Sharpologist receives a small advertising fee from Amazon if a product is purchased from the page).

Started using a double edge razor in Jan. 2019 with a Qshave razor and the blades that came with it. Great shave, When those 5 blade ran out I opened a 100 bulk pack of Parker. Second blade felt like I was using a hacksaw blade. Since then I would say they were ok but will be going back to the Qshave baldes when finished with the Parkers.

  2. Yeah, sounds exactly like a crappy Derby blade – Turkey, german equipment, swedish steel yada yada yada

    1. The comments from users who have tried them have been positive. In my own case I like them a lot better than Derby’s (YMMV of course).

    1. I just received my box a few days ago so I have not had a chance to really put it through its paces but the first couple of shaves I’ve had with one have been solid!

Like you, I haven’t had a chance to really test them out (on several razors, different bead growth, etc). Based on the couple shaves I’ve had with my Merkur 42C, it gives a very smooth shave. I’ll be interested to see how it works with more aggressive razors.
Since I rarely use my blade more than two times (and often only once–if it’s been used for a 5-day growth, for instance), I don’t really care about how many shaves one blade gives.

        1. Yes my shaves with the Parker blades have been pretty smooth so far. I will probably update this article next week with some additional thoughts.

  3. First shave with this blade was this morning. I just bought another box. No doubt about it -This is a quality blade. It was an “easy” , clean smooth shave if you know what I mean 🙂

  4. Under the theory that Parker cares about its brand and wouldn’t crassly slap its name on schlock, I plunked down the princely sum of $8.79 for 100. Thanks for the discount.

You make a good point, Kenneth. I can’t imagine they will be “schlock”. One just can’t be sure if they will be good for him/her. Merkur makes blades. While I can’t stand them, I don’t believe they are schlock—seems many people love them.
And that’s another point you make, implicitly. Blade preference is such a personal thing, would even reading a review be able to tell you if you’d like a particular blade? I really think the only way is to try the blade for yourself. And for $8 and change, you can get 100. What’s the worst that can happen if you don’t like them?
You convinced me. I’m ordering tonight. Thanks.

    1. I don’t know about the future but at the moment the 20% discount is online only. [EDIT: to clarify, the blades will be available at “brick & mortar” stores (like Maggard) but the 20% discount is online at Amazon.]

So, how are they? I assume you’ve tried them, and like them (at least to some degree) because they are on your “recommended” page on Amazon. But, in your opinion, how do they compare to Super Iridium and Feather, for example?
Do you know if Parker owns the factory where they are produced, or is an existing plant that makes other brands? And if it is an existing factory, are these blades something else, rebranded, or were they developed by Parker?
    Thanks, Mark.

    1. Hi Brian– I have not tried them yet but I have a box on the way. They’ve just been released and Parker offered Sharpologist readers such a good discount I wanted to put it out there. I do not know if they own the factory but I do know they are not re-branded, they are made to Parker specs.

OK, thanks for the quick reply, Mark. I’m sure you’ll let us know what you think, once you get a chance to try them.
