Marvis Toothpaste Review: The Italian Luxury Tooth Brushing Experience

marvis toothpaste review

If you’re looking for a luxurious toothpaste brand that will make your teeth feel clean and look shiny, then you should try Marvis. This Italian brand offers an interesting variety of flavors like jasmine, ginger, and licorice, that will leave your mouth feeling refreshed.

What Is Marvis Toothpaste?

Marvis toothpaste is a type of toothpaste that is used to scrub teeth and remove stains, plaque, and mineral deposits. Marvis toothpaste is packaged in a more elegant tube that’s a step up from the generic toothpaste tube on your bathroom countertop.

Much of the original history of the Marvis brand is a bit of a mystery, Marvis was first registered in Italy by Earl Franco Cella di Rivaradates in 1958. Ludovico Martelli SRL bought Marvis in 1997.

Marvis was first targeted to smokers due to its whitening effect and intense Mint flavor: Marvis Classic Strong Mint toothpaste was the first product created and is still their best-selling toothpaste.

What Makes Marvis Toothpaste So Unique?

This brand offers a unique range of intense flavors–including cinnamon, licorice and ginger. Plus, their toothpastes have a thick texture which makes them a cult favorite among men’s fashion enthusiasts. In fact, some people even refer to this type of toothpaste as “haute cuisine.”

Another thing that makes Marvis unique is its ingredient formulation. While some ingredients are common and found in other toothpastes on the market, others may be more problematic in terms of safety. For example, one ingredient in Marvis is sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), which can be harsh on your gums and teeth if used often.

And Marvis doesn’t contain fluoride, either. That makes it suitable for people with concerns about fluoridation. But if you have teeth or gum trouble and your dentist recommends oral care products with fluoride, Marvis may not be for you.

Another key difference is that Marvis uses sodium citrate to help remineralize teeth over time. This can help keep teeth healthy and strong even without the addition of fluoride. Additionally, Marvis toothpaste uses titanium dioxide for whitening teeth. While titanium dioxide isn’t as effective as traditional bleaching agents, it does produce a whiter smile for a limited time.

The ingredients in Marvis toothpaste come from natural sources-essential oils derived from plants such as cinnamon, ginger, mint, and citrus fruits give the toothpaste its characteristic flavor and aroma

Marvis is a vegan toothpaste, gluten-free, cruelty-free and sensitive to ingredients.

Options: Flavors Of Marvis Toothpaste

When it comes to toothpaste, there are a variety of flavors to choose from. You can find minty toothpastes, fruity ones and even some that taste like chocolate. But if you’re looking for something with more flavor (and intensity), Marvis toothpaste might be the right choice for you. They offer several different options to choose from, so you’re sure to find one that suits your taste.

Other Flavors

Occasionally special edition or seasonal flavors are produced for a limited time. As I write this there are three “limited edition” flavors available on the Marvis Italian website: Royal, with Italian lemon oil, tangerines, rose extract and nutmeg; Karakum, with peppermint, the sweetness of orange juice, and aromatic cardamom; and Rambas, combining ripe peach and sweet pineapple with a twist of sweet Alphonso mango.

Pros And Cons Of Using Marvis Toothpaste

There are a couple of drawbacks to using Marvis toothpaste. First, it can be more expensive than some other brands and it’s not always easy to find in stores–though that’s changing all the time. Second, its intense flavors may find you using it less often than you should.

But there are a lot of good things to say about Marvis toothpaste, too. The flavors and tastes are delicious, the products leave your mouth feeling “incredibly fresh and clean,” and most of the toothpastes have unique flavor profiles that make them stand out from other brands on the market. Plus, Marvis has great whitening benefits.

Overall, though, I think Marvis is a great choice for anyone looking for an enjoyable toothpaste experience with some added whitening benefits.

What Other Marvis Toothpaste Reviews Say

Despite some of the concerns about its ingredients, there is a lot of positive comments on Amazon (affiliate link) and Influencer for Marvis toothpaste. People seem to really like the taste and how well it cleans their teeth. However, there are also some negative reviews stating that the toothpaste doesn’t work and there are safety concerns with its use.

My Marvis Toothpaste Review

I’ve used two Marvis toothpastes over the years. My first experience was around 2012 when Merz/Smallflower (affiliate link) gave me a sample of the Licorice flavor. It was an interesting experience: I hadn’t heard of Marvis before so the intense flavor profile took me by surprise. And, yes, it tasted like minty licorice. I half expected the surface of my teeth to turn black like when it did after I ate licorice candy as a kid. Interesting, but just not my preference.

I also tried the Classic Whitening Mint toothpaste a few years ago. I wanted to try it for its whitening properties. Wow, they weren’t kidding about a “sharp” mint taste! A minty explosion in my mouth. And after several weeks of use I did notice my teeth getting whiter. However, on the advice of my dentist who strongly suggested I need to use a fluoridated product, I moved to a more “mainstream” toothpaste.

Summing Up

Overall, I believe that Marvis toothpaste is a great product and is worth the high price tag if you’re looking for something both different and luxurious. The intense flavors and thick texture are both major selling points. That said, some ingredients (eg SLS) are now being called into question, so it’s important to do your own research before making a purchase.

If you’re looking for a quality toothpaste but don’t want to spend too much money, I’d recommend checking out a travel-size tube of Marvis toothpaste – it’s cheaper than the regular line but just as good.

  1. Many flavors have fluoride versions. Fluoride is right there in the ingredients list you post for the ginger mint. Consider updating your info…

  2. Hello! I believe this toothpaste formula was changed at some point…at least on some flavors. It says “fluoride toothpaste” right on the tube in the picture above.
