A Quick Guide to Choosing the Right Shampoo

How much time do we really spend on choosing the best shampoo for our hair? Apparently not much at all based on this funny graph I found on Facebook. And, for good reason! I mean, how interested are we really about getting the right shine, bounce, or texture for our hair? Usually it’s all about the right smell, at the right price!

Realistically speaking, for most of us, we really don’t see a need to hunt for a specific type of shampoo unless we notice something wrong with our hair or scalp.

That being said, here’s a breakdown of the differences for if and when you see the need to use something other than “normal” shampoos! [Read more…]

Neck Hair.

Neck Hair

It’s truly amazing the things that trigger inspiration for my blog…how about this one: neck hair!

I was on my way to an event in NYC when I looked over at the cab driver and saw his neck hair was long enough to consider his hairstyle a mullet*pause* Yep, that long.

Now, I completely understand that neck hair can get long in-between haircuts, but allowing it to grow to the point where it’s fighting your neck for space in your shirt is UNACCEPTABLE.

Quick remedy, consider a tapered neckline. With this option, the back hairline will grow out in a manner that keeps the style looking neater longer. If you happen to be one of the many men who struggle with a fast growing neckline, ask you barber to work out a deal for you where you can come in for a quick clean-up between haircuts. Or, worst case scenario, you can ask a friend, girlfriend, wife (you get the picture) to trim the area with a pair of trimmers. Hey, it doesn’t matter the method you choose, just choose one!

Trust me, it will be worth your “visual” while!

Cold Water.

C-c-c-cold Water!

Ever taken a cold shower and noticed the difference in the way your skin feels vs. when you take a warm one?  What about after you shave…does your face feel better after a splash of cold water? Or, have you ever hopped out of  a warm shower and struggled to get your hairstyle just right?

Well, here is the secret.  Cold Water.

From the top of our heads, to the bottom of our feet,  our body is alive.

GOOD FOR HAIR:

When you are finished shampooing and conditioning your hair, give it a final rinse with cold water.  Why? Well, it closes the cuticles that are on each and every hair follicle.  Your hair will not only feel cleaner but it will give off a great natural shine.

GOOD FOR SKIN:

This is goodfor your post-shave and the final rinse in the shower, as well.  Cold water closes the pores, so your skin will feel cleaner, look shinier and will make better use of the topical products (i.e. after shave balms and moisturizers) you put on after drying off.  Not to mention, if you were still trying to wake up, cold water can take care of that too!

So there you have it!  Who said keeping cool and looking good couldn’t go hand in hand?
