Boots On The Ground In The US With No7 Men

Boots No. 7

The Boots brand is a familiar one in Great Britain, with a franchise of stores spanning the British Isles and some in other parts of the UK. Boots recently dipped its corporate toes into the US market by launching a skin care line sold in US chain Walgreens, “Boots No7 Men.”  I’ve had the opportunity to try the line for a while now.

Boots No7 Men Product Line-Up

Face Scrub

This would used every week or so.  It’s one of those cleansers that feels “gritty” or “sandy” and used for deeply cleaning debris from the skin.  I prefer something with a little less “grit” but that’s a personal preference.  The  Boots No7 Men Face Scrub does the job it’s designed to.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Polyethylene, Glycerin, Cocamidopropyl betaine, Sodium laureth sulfate, Acrylates/palmeth-25 acrylate copolymer, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium chloride, Parfum (Fragrance), Panthenol, Sodium hydroxide, Methylparaben, Dipropylene glycol, Tetrasodium EDTA, Disodium phosphate. – See more at: http://us.boots.com/product/42490#sthash.mcpCYx4f.dpuf

Face Wash

This seems to be a pretty good wash: I find it does not dry out my skin as much as some other products I’ve tried.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Sodium laureth sulfate, Glycerin, Cocamidopropyl betaine, PEG-18 glyceryl oleate/cocoate, Sodium chloride, Parfum (Fragrance), PEG-120 methyl glucose dioleate, Panthenol, Citric acid, Tetrasodium EDTA, Dipropylene glycol, Disodium phosphate, Methylisothiazolinone, Sodium hydroxide, Tocopherol – See more at: http://us.boots.com/product/42492#sthash.Xa5gV138.dpuf

Hair & Body Wash

I find the Boots No7 Men Hair / Body Wash particularly convenient in the shower (it’s not shown in the picture above because it’s in the shower stall! :) ).  It does not lather as much as other multi-purpose washes I’ve tried but it works well, particularly when I use it with one of those nylon scrubby puffs.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Sodium laureth sulfate, Cocamidopropyl betaine, Sodium chloride, PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate, Parfum (Fragrance), Panthenol, PEG-120 methyl glucose dioleate, Polyquaternium-10, Citric acid, Tetrasodium EDTA, Disodium phosphate, Dipropylene glycol, Methylisothiazolinone, Sodium hydroxide, Sodium acetate, Isopropyl alcohol, Tocopherol – See more at: http://us.boots.com/product/42491#sthash.t7MHN7XQ.dpuf

Eye Roll On

This is one of those products that temporarily reduces the appearance of dark circles and puffiness under the eyes.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Butylene glycol, Glycerin, Acrylamide/ammonium acrylate copolymer, Caffeine, Polyisobutene, Panthenol, Phenoxyethanol, Steareth-20, Methylparaben, Polysorbate 20, Sorbitan isostearate, Ascorbyl glucoside, Tetrasodium EDTA, Ethylparaben, Hesperidin methyl chalcone, Potassium hydroxide, Chlorhexidine digluconate, N-Hydroxysuccinimide, Potassium sorbate, Sodium citrate, Dipeptide-2, Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7, Chrysin, Palmitoyl oligopeptide, Citric acid, Biotin – See more at: http://us.boots.com/product/42489#sthash.3Uq9bj1G.dpuf

Moisturiser

The Boots No7 Men Moisturiser is particularly good if you will be outside, as it has an SPF of 15 (though it should not be used as your only protection!).  I was pleasantly surprised by its lack of a greasy feel on the skin and it “soaked in” quickly.  I think it  probably has the strongest fragrance of the line but it is pretty innocuous.

Ingredients:Aqua (Water), Glycerin, C12-15 alkyl benzoate, Octocrylene, Butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, Dimethicone, Cetearyl glucoside, Aluminum starch octenylsuccinate, Ethylhexyl salicylate, C18-36 acid glycol ester, Ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Alcohol denat., Potassium cetyl phosphate, Cetearyl alcohol, Bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine, Butylene glycol, Dimethiconol, Parfum (Fragrance), Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Xanthan gum, Diethylhexyl butamido triazone, Retinyl palmitate, Ascorbyl glucoside, Sodium hyaluronate, Medicago sativa (Alfalfa) extract, Tetrasodium EDTA, T-butyl alcohol, Lupinus albus seed extract, Dipropylene glycol, Carbomer, Phyllanthus emblica fruit extract, Dimethylmethoxy chromanol, Polysorbate 20, Potassium hydroxide, Ginkgo biloba leaf extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Simethicone, Tocopherol, Palmitoyl oligopeptide, Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7. – See more at: http://us.boots.com/product/42488#sthash.v7sLS9St.dpuf

Serum

The Serum can be used before the moisturizer for an extra boost of “anti-aging” ingredients that can reduce the look of wrinkles over time.

Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Aqua (Water), Butylene glycol, Dimethicone crosspolymer, Cyclohexasiloxane, Glycerin, Arabinogalactan, Sodium ascorbyl phosphate, Magnesium sulfate, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium PCA, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 dimethicone, Hexyl laurate, Polyglyceryl-4 isostearate, Retinyl palmitate, Medicago sativa (Alfalfa) extract, Methylparaben, Propylene glycol, Ethylparaben, Lupinus albus seed extract, Carbomer, Polysorbate 20, Panax ginseng root extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Morus alba leaf extract, Tocopherol, Palmitoyl oligopeptide, Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7. – See more at: http://us.boots.com/product/42487#sthash.ouTqGEUB.dpuf

  1. Boots and Wallgreens are actually merging (to become one of the largest drug co. in the world). Boots has been making inroads into the US for some time now… They had medical, drug reps here back in the 90’s and have been in full swing in the Health/Beauty area of most Target stores for the past 7 years! Just the women’s line there – so yes, seeing the men’s line in Walgreens is a new phase of their ‘invasion’. But great items at amazing prices with legitimate anti-aging ingredients. I worked cosmetics/Nordstrom for years – No 7 has it ALL OVER the product/price/ing combination there.

  2. Boots is now owned by Walgreens. I don’t think we will be seeing Boots shave cream soon.

  3. Those ingredient lists are a little scary… and I was a chemistry major! I’ll stick with my locally made all natural shampoo bar and bar soaps. There are a number of ingredients there that people get pretty worked up about, and while there may be some controversy as to whether those chemicals are bad for you, there’s little to suggest that they’re good for you either! Those lists make the Barbasol ingredient list look great.
